The vi lla ge named Ivanovo was fi rst mentioned in 1561.
August 2nd 1871 Ivanovo and Voznese nskiy Posad co unt ry were merged i nto the
town, n amed Ivanovo-Voz nesensk. However, this name has been used less than a
hundred years and on Dec 27 of 1932 the town was renamed and be came Ivanovo.
